A sunrise tour on Mount Batur takes about 4-5 hours on an average.
We recommended going on a guided trek or guided jeep tour of the Mount Batur. Sunrise tours start very early, so booking a guided tour will give you the option of hotel transfers, making the logistics a lot simpler.
About 2 hours.
Yes! That's definitely an option. There are nighttime and sunset treks to Mount Batur as well, but sunrise tours remain the most popular.
Kintamani is the closest village to Mount Batur. However, guided tours include hotel transfers from Denpasar, Ubud, Sanur, Seminyak, Canggu, Legian, Kuta, Nusa Dua, and Jimbaran.
Very beautiful experience ! Our driver to get there Agus Wiguna was very professional and knowledgeable. He made the activity even better.

Wonderful Trip... from the exciting n very bumpy Jeep ride, to quietly waiting as the sunrise unfolded as we ate breakfast n sipped on coffee. Our guide/driver , Kati, was knowledgeable, super friendly and a master at the photo shoot. Sadly that one dam cloud got in tne way of a perfect Sunrise but just maybe that's what made it perfect!! Our Car driver, Yudiana, went the extra mile for beautiful lookouts over the Valley n waited as we went to the Hot Spring Pools but go early as it's quiet then n got VERY busy by the time we left to the fabulous Luwak coffee plantation tasting... gosh there were about 12 different coffee n tea tasting VERY HAPPY DAY HAD BY ALL THANK YOU KATI n YUDIANA
We had a great time during this tour. It was just as described. The hike to the mountain was a bit challenging but worth it for the beautiful view. Our driver- Agus Badeng was punctual, very professional and friendly. Our tour guide was also great.
The early morning is worth it! Kinyong messaged us the night before to arrange pickup time and location, he arrived right on time and got us to each adventure promptly and safely. He set us up with the best guide for the trek and allowed us to choose how long to spend in the hot springs! Would happily have him coordinate again!
Timely pickup. Ready to help driver and guide and complete package- Pickup, trek, Hot spring, Coffee plantation tour and tasting, and then drop. Highly recommended. Our driver Kinyong and Trek guide Coco were both polite and super helpful. Highly recommended
Had really great experience trekking the Mount Batur. Our driver Mr. Bagonk was on time for our pick up at 2 AM and had a friendly conversation explaining everything to us. On the way back, he took us to the coffee plantation and it was another good experience. Our treak guide was Ms. Rini and she also did a fantastic job. She was patient enough to take us to the top to see the sunrise. She helped and guided us to complete the trek successfully and safely. Overall experience was really great! Thank yoy team
Andi as my driver and Riska as my guide were a very friendly and heartfelt people. Riska's enthusiasm made us energetic the entire trek and Andi made sure we were safe although travelling at 2am in an unknown city Loved the trip and the arrangement.
1. All the guides were observed to be sarting the Trek at a very fast pace , literally ensuring that many were forced to opt for a motorbike ride to complete the Trek 2. The breakfast at the summit could be improved by providing a hot drink as well , 3. The guide should spend a few minutes at the start briefing the group about what exactly to ecpect
Still buzzing from our sunrise trek up Mount Batur! It’s an early wakeup (like, 2am early) but you get this wild feeling hiking in the dark with just your own little flashlight. The stars were unreal – almost tripped once staring up at them. Our guide, Wayan, was super chill and didn’t make us feel rushed at all, even tho we were slower than some others. Reached the top just as the sky started glowing pink and orange. Can’t explain how EPIC that view is til you see it. Hot springs after were a huge treat for tired legs, though pretty crowded so don’t imagine a spa-vibe, more like happy chaos. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
Trek was harder than I thought honestly. Legs = jelly now. But sunrise made it worth all the huffing and puffing. Guides were helpful, kept checking if I was ok. Hot springs after = sooooo relaxing but a bit noisy. Bring dry shorts! Def recommend for adventure peeps.
My boyfriend and I booked this on a whim and it turned out to be our fave Bali memory. The trek up is steep in parts, but our guide Eka kept us laughing and pointing out tiny details (saw a bat fly by!). Sunrise from the top honestly made me tear up a little. The breakfast (banana sandwich!) was basic but hit the spot. Hot springs after were BUSY but still felt nice. Pro tip: pack a decent jacket, it’s cold at the top!
It’s pretty touristy, ngl, and there were like 50+ ppl at the top. But the sunrise is crazy beautiful. Not easy if ur not used to hiking. Staff were friendly, tho felt a bit rushed at the hot springs. If you like nature and don’t mind crowds, this is for you.
Did this trek with my mom and sister – we’re not exactly mountain goats, but our guide Putu was sooo patient. He cheered us on the whole way. The sunrise was like something out of a movie, all misty and golden. Hot springs after = the best reward. We met another family in the pool and swapped stories. Would 100% do it again, just maybe train a bit more next time!
Trek itself is not super long but gets steep. Our guide (can’t remember name, sorry!) helped my friend who slipped on loose gravel. Views are worth the early alarm. Hot spring was a bit crowded, but water is really warm. Bring towel and snacks, breakfast is tiny.
Solo traveler here! Met cool ppl in my group, we bonded over being half awake at 3am haha. Trekking up in the dark feels mysterious, then you get to the top and BOOM – sunrise paints the world. Guides were great, gave tips for photos. Hot springs were busy but fun, and I didn’t mind sharing the space. Go for it, even solo.
Early pickup, bit rough, but sunrise on Batur is wild. Not easy for knees, bring stick if u got one. Guides are helpful, speak decent English. Hot spring after was a bit crowded but felt good after hike. Worth it if u like adventure.
Went with my bf, honestly didn’t expect to love it THIS much. The trek was challenging but not impossible, and our guide was super sweet (she even shared her own snacks with us). Sunrise at the top – wow. Just WOW. Hot springs after were busy, but we found a quieter corner. Such a good morning.
Good experience overall but bit too crowded at the top. Sunrise is really nice, but hard to find space for pics. Hot springs are ok, not as clean as I hoped. Staff friendly though. If u want peace, maybe not for u.
Took my teenage kids on this trek and it was a blast. The early start was a struggle (they grumbled the whole car ride), but the hike woke them up fast. Our guide Mangku was AMAZING – knew all the shortcuts and kept us safe. At the summit, sunrise was just magical. Hot springs after = pure bliss. Not a cheap tour, but totally worth the memories.
The views at sunrise are just crazy beautiful. Hike was tougher than I thought (I’m not super fit tbh), but guide was patient. Hot springs after were relaxing but busy, so be ready to share space. Worth it if u love sunrise views.
I booked this for my partner and me as a surprise and it was SO worth the lost sleep. Trek is a bit steep, but guide helped with tricky parts. Watching the sky light up on that mountaintop was unforgettable. Hot springs after were a bit crowded but still super nice. Definitely bring a warm jacket – was freezing at the top!
It’s a cool trek but not as quiet as I hoped, too many tour groups. Early morning ride was rough, and the summit was packed. Still, sunrise is special. Hot springs are nice, bit small for so many people.
Went with friends, we’re all pretty active so hike wasn’t too bad. Guide was friendly, pointed out cool plants along the way. Sunrise was STUNNING. Hot springs after were a bit loud but fun. Bring flip flops for after the hike!
This was honestly the highlight of our Bali trip. Went with my partner and another couple – we laughed our way up the mountain, huffing and puffing but loving every minute. Our guide, Gede, was hilarious and had so many stories. Sunrise was just mind-blowing – totally worth the struggle. Hot springs after were crowded but we didn’t mind, still felt amazing. Would do it again in a second.

We had an amazing experience with our driver War Sana. I'm a right leg amputee and war sana made sure there was nothing I couldn't do, from helping me in & out of the jeep to bringing us breakfast & coffees to the jeep, taking some incredible photos for us at the sunrise, and providing such a fun experience, we also got the black volcano and where able to get out and explore there too. A huge thankyou to war sana for being so helpful & understanding we had the best time and you're a great guide! We also had an amazing taxi driver who took us too and from the location for the jeep, called endrik. This was brilliantly organised!
